I'm Jill Saville, and I've been exactly where you are. I used to be afraid to stop working because if I took a day off, I couldn't get back onto the hamster wheel. I took my children to a pantomime and sat with my laptop, thinking I'd done my job by just being there – completely missing the point of being truly present. 
 
For 20 years, I stayed at the same grade in the civil service. I went for promotion after promotion, always unprepared and nervous, never succeeding. Nothing changed until I got a coach and dared to break the pattern. Then I moved into another department – three grades higher. 
 
That experience taught me everything I bring to my work today. I've invested almost £100,000 in my own development to find out what actually works, so I can shorten other women's journeys.
